I’ve tried E-editor (the supposed Text Mate on windows). It may be a good product someday, but right now they only have it half right and it’s more trouble than it’s worth.
What does everyone else use? BTW I’m using it mostly for php, javascript, html, and css.
just in case anyone else cares, I’m currently trying out notepad++. With a few plugins it seems to be behaving nicely. I’ll give ultra edit a go too.

I am trying to build a web page from scratch, and just use straight coding. however whenever i use appleworks, iworks, or textedit for the mac and save the file as html then view it as safari – it makes all the tags viable as well.

that’s not going to work for me if I want to create a page layout like i want.

is there something I am missing? AND does anyone know of any freeware text editors out there for a mac?
