Buckley R asked: I’ve tried E-editor (the supposed Text Mate on windows). It may be a good product someday, but right now they only have it half right and it’s more trouble than it’s worth.
What does everyone else use? BTW I’m using it mostly for php, javascript, html, and css.
just in case anyone else cares, I’m currently trying out notepad++. With a few plugins it seems to be behaving nicely. I’ll give ultra edit a go too.

dustandrags asked: I am trying to build a web page from scratch, and just use straight coding. however whenever i use appleworks, iworks, or textedit for the mac and save the file as html then view it as safari – it makes all the tags viable as well.
that’s not going to work for me if I want to create a page layout like i want.
is there something I am missing? AND does anyone know of any freeware text editors out there for a mac?

Leslie Owusu-Appiah asked: I’m used to using Gedit in Linux and Smultron on Mac OS X but have been searching for a text editor (preferable with syntax highlighting and tabs!) that allows editing of files via SSH, so I can edit and test a CMS I’m developing with ease.
I’ve used a combination of Notepad2/Intype with Filezilla, but really need this functionality combined.
Thanks in advance for the advice, I’ll be checking back.
Peace.

maple1985 asked: I was at a mac store and I asked an associate what the notepad counterpart was and he said there wasn’t one included with mac os X. So how do you type plain text files? You HAVE to download or buy software just to edit html? ***?

Thiago A asked:
Hello, I have been using project Sea Monkey for quite a while now. I don’t like that fact that when I copy and paste into the Sea Monkey, it messes up the original font. Is there a better HTML Editor in which I can copy the text, paste into it and then turn it into a HTML code?
Thanks in advance
